Last week on Thursday Jupiter day my son Orion and I were shopping at our local Goodwill. When we arrived I thought of how leaving my glass water botttle in the car was a good idea but still I decided to take it in with us. Orion had his big book from that days visit to the library and he wanted to sit and look at it. We negotiated a plan that he could be out of my sight only if he was willing to stay seated in the same spot. I would call out to him and he would answer "still staying where Iam mom". Then after awhile he rejoined me and we had small talk in the way we do and then I dropped my bottle. It shattered and the darn thing was full of yummy water so there was a big mess all over the place. Orion yells out "Oh no that could be really dangerous!" Reaching down I began picking up the glass I told Orion to go tell the lady at the front what happened while I pick up all the big pieces. He walks up to the front and with his strongest big boy voice (which is pretty big!) said "Um excuse me, we have a clean up in the back isle both water and glass. We need help back there so no one gets hurt, can we have some help please thank you." How he said it was so mature sounding. When he walked back to me he passed by a lady, who turned towards us and said "That was amazing how you two handled that....Wow I'm impressed." And about five minutes later as she was about to leave she came up to me to tell me that she had been listening to the way I talked with my son. How she had been listening to us through out the time in the store and after witnessing us take care of the water spill she wanted to gift Orion a game from her Funagain game store. She asked what were our names and she told me her's was Mary. She even said that he could have any game in the store that he wanted. She also told me he could chose one from the very back out of the ones not yet on display! Goodwill....ha that moment feels good to me still! So on Friday Venus day Oct 9 John Lennon and doggie China's birthday Orion and I went into her store to pick out a game that his behavior had earned him. When we walked through the door the man at the counter held up a big piece of green paper that read; Orion Glover can have any game in the store even from the ones in the back what ever he wants it is his...sighned Mary! He was beyond thrilled!!! After looking around for a little bit he chose the train set to add to his city he created on the floor in his bedroom. When we were leaving he cleared his throat to tell the man at the front, "Please tell Mary thank you very much and that I'm happy ~ok." And I added "auspicous timing he will turn 6 on Sunday if you could tell her that for us as well." So anyone in Ashland shopping for the holidays please go to Funagain games and support our friend Mary and tell her Orion Glover sent you!!!

As I was dusting today I came across this scroll attached to a beeswax dragon candle that my daughter Maielaya brought home after her Michaelmas assembly from her Waldorf school. It reads... EACH GOOD DEED SETS ME FREE, EACH KIND WORD MAKES ME STRONG, I WILL FIGHT FOR THE RIGHT, I WILL CONQUER THE WRONG.

We never know who is watching us what kind people observing like Mary was; we never know when we will effect another by our actions big or small but what we should know is when the "effect" is positive it sure feels GREAT!!!
